Himalayan Explorers Club Chamser kangri Expedition 6637 mtrs. Rupshu region in leh ladhak, J&K August 18

Chamser and Lungser Kangri ( 6637m & 6666m) situated at the eastern shore of lake Tsomoriri, at the SE of Ladakh in the Rupshu region. The twin peaks are highest peak in Rupshu region. Karzok village is situated at the western shore of lake Tsomoriri and also home of Changthang nomads. Living in tents looking after their flocks of sheep, which produce finest Pashmina.

After our travel from Leh to Karzok and well acclamatizing. We trek to Peldo by following the western shore to eastern shore of lake and climb short to Skyurchu. The ascent to the base camp (5580m) on barren plateau is rather easy. The way up to ABC is on gravel with coarse of plates rather difficult to climb. Technically, the climb is not difficult , but its great challenge for physical strength and adventurous trekkers. After final ascent the impressive view of lake Tsomoriri, Mentok Kangri and numbers of peaks rising above 6000-7000m.

Day 01. Leh.
Arrive at Leh Airport and transfer to Hotel. After an hour of rest we drive to lower ladakh sightseeing. We will visit hall of fame, Phyang monastery and enjoy the breath taking view of the confluence of Indus and Zanskar River, Magnetic hill, Pather Gurduwara and evening visit to Leh market and Shanti Stupa. Overnight Hotel.

Day 02. Leh-Chumathang- Tsomoriri (240kms/ 07 hrs aprox).
After your breakfast we check out form hotel and drive to Tsomoriri en-route stop at Chumathang, famous for medical hot spring. After short halt drive to Tsomoriri located at 14,000ft.near a small village of Korzok. Up on arrival we check in at our camp.

Day 03. Visit around nomadic head quarter (korzok).
After breakfast we will start hiking to Korzok phu or Today An additional acclimatization day with the explore some unknown peaks up to 5500m around Karzok and Tso Moriri Lake.Overnight in camp .

Day 04. Tsomoriri to kyurchu (4770m).
We started hiking along the lakeshore and set up our camp at a spring near skyurchu in 4770m altitude.

05. Kyurchu to Base camp (5590m).
The ascent to the base camp on barren plateau at 5590m will be easy, and we will enjoy the view of both chamser and lungser kangri.

Day Day 6. Base camp to Advance base camp (5780m).
The way up to the advance base camp led through very rough terrain gravel. At the camp site there are several small, beautiful lakes of deep green colors.

Day 7. Summit Chamser kangri (6637 m).
Tonight around 12:00am we will start the ascent. it will take almost 4/5 hours up to top. After the summit we continue camp back to base camp. Over at base camp.

Day 8. Base camp to Tsomoriri.
We walk again along with tsomoriri lakeshore via peldo. Overnight camp tsomoriri.

Day 9. Drive back to leh.
Last day the car will take you back to leh via Tsoker lake and Taglang-la pass (third highest motorable road). overnight in hotel.

(One day extra for Back-up).

The planning for the event will be as follows:
9th July: Start from Mumbai by Train till Ambala by around 11.30 pm.
10th July: Train Journey
11th July: Reach Ambala by 9.30 am
Collect bikes from the Railways.
Ambala to Bilaspur – 180 km Ride
12th July: Bilaspur to Manali – 180 Kms
13th July: Stay in Manali
14th July: Manali- Rohtang Pass- Koksar- Tandi- Keylong – 120 km Ride
15th July: Keylong- Darcha- Sarchu- 136 km Ride
16th July: Sarchu to Pang- 83 Ride
17th July: Pang Taglangla- Rumtse- Upashi- Leh- 195 kms Ride
18th July: Leh to Khardung La and back- 80 Kms Ride
19th July: Leh to Pangong Lake 170 Kms by 4 wheeler via ChangLa.
20th July: Leh to Mulbek 329 Kms Ride
21st July: Mulbek – Kargil – Drass – Jojila end – Sonmerg – Gagangir – 150 kms Ride
22nd July: Gagangir to Srinagar – 92 kms Ride
23rd July: Gulmarg, Dal Lake, Local Sightseeing 150 kms ride
24th July: Shrinagar to Katra – 290 kms Ride
25th July: Trek to Badrinath

29th July: Start from Jammu in the morning.

The Cost-

The whole tour is on TTMM basis. Trek Mates India will be charging Rs.1500 per head as expertise charges.
The approximate expense for the event will be Rs 20000/- for a single person per bike, or 17500/- in case of two people per bike which includes:

Trip Details:

JUNE 20th : On arrival at Manali bus stop, you will be received by our representative and would be commuted to your Hotel in the beautiful Solang valley, where you will be checked in for rest and overnight stay.

JUNE 21st: After breakfast, we begin our drive towards Jispa. The drive starts slowly winding up mountain roads till Rohtang Pass at 3,950 Mts. This high altitude road beyond the great Himalayan range connects the densely fertile and green Kullu valley to the stark barren region of Ladakh. On entering the Lahaul valley we see a distinct change with the Hindu influence being replaced with the Buddhist religion. Overnight stay in Deluxe tents in Jispa.

JUNE 22nd: After breakfast, we begin our drive towards Tsomoriri Lake. Enroute, we shall visit Tsokar Lake, meaning White lake because of the salt deposited around it. Tsokar is situated at an altitude of 4530m above sea level and is surrounded by extensive areas of fresh and saline marshes and wet meadows, which host varieties of water birds.

From here, there is a drive full of beautiful landscapes on the way to Tsomoriri Lake. Overnight stay in Guesthouse at Korzok village, one of the most remote and high altitude settlements in Ladakh.

JUNE 23rd: After breakfast, we drive towards Leh crossing Mahe Bridge on the way. We stop by Chumatang Hot Sulphur springs for picnic lunch. We continue our drive and end our journey in Leh, where you will be received by our representative and checked into your Guesthouse. Overnight stay in Leh.

JUNE 24th: Full day sightseeing of Leh, wherein we will visit Thiksey monastery and Stok palace in the morning. We also visit a 200 year old traditional Ladakhi house to get a glimpse of the local lifestyle and get to enjoy a cup of Butter tea, a ladakhi beverage.

We come back to our Guesthouse for hot lunch and rest. In the evening, we visit the Hall of Fame (a glorious museum built by the Indian Army) and end the day by enjoying the beautiful sunset at Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Leh.

JUNE 25th: After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla Pass (18380 feet) –the Highest Motorable Road in the World. Nubra Valley is also known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’ and lies at an average altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level. Visit Panamik Hot springs. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Nubra valley.

June 26th: After breakfast, visit Hunder village and Deskit Monastery. Other attractions include the White Sand dunes and Camel Safari on the double humped camels which are found only in Nubra. Drive back to Leh. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Leh.

JUNE 27th: Rafting from Chilling to Nimo in Zanskar river (Level 3 plus) Duration: approx 2 1/2 Hours. This is the most cherished rafting option in Ladakh. After hot lunch at Nimo, we drive to Leh. Overnight stay at Guesthouse.

JUNE 28th: After breakfast, Drive to the beautiful crystal clear, color-changing high altitude lake, the Pangong lake located next to the China border via Changla pass. This lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Overnight stay at Deluxe Tents near lakeside.

JUNE 29th: After breakfast, we drive back to Leh. Evening free to explore. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Leh.

JUNE 30th: Early morning drive to Leh airport for onward journey to Delhi with memories of a lifetime!
