TIRUPATHI TIRUMALA
is famous as the abode of SRI BALAJI, the Lord of Seven Hills where Tens of Thousands of pilgrims throng every day seeking His Blessings. But very few are aware of astounding
variety of the Fauna and Flora that abound in the dense forests surrounding this Holy Shrine. Secret Canyons, perennial springs, cascading waterfalls, centuries old tall tress, caves, prehistoric rock paintings are located off the beaten track and are reachable only by Trekking under the canopy of dense jungle on footpaths known only to the local tribal and the experienced Trekkers of Youth Hostels Association of India, Andhra Pradesh State Branch.
Purpose
Purpose of this trekking expedition is to promote ECO, ADVENTURE & RURAL TOURISM in the
Eastern Ghats region, with greater adventure and sense of love for nature, aiming at promotion of National Integration.
Thumburu Valley
It is religious Theertham where many “Rishis” did penance in the ancient times. The trek through
the canyon with towering hills of more than 100 feet height with a clearance of 20 to 30 feet only between the vertical rock walls climbing over boulders wading through pools of water ultimately reaching the water fall where the two hills join together is an unforgettable
experience. Nature has provided swimming pools of different depths all along route inviting both
swimmers and nonswimmers to enjoy frolicking in the water after the bath under the waterfall at the end of the Thumburudu Kona where a small idol of Thumburu, the celestial horse-headed musician is installed
Vengamamba Cave
This is a Cave in Thumburu Valley where poetess,VENGAMAMBA did her penance.
Ramakrishna Theertham Starting from Thumburu Valley one has to trek 6 kms. including 1 km. ascent and 2 kms. descent to down a narrow water course to reach the bowl shaped Ramakrishna Theertham by the side of perennial water course. The night halts at this valley under the sky is an unique experience. Prehistoric Rock Paintings & Caves On the way Trekkers will have the opportunity to witness some of the rare cave paintings and caves where ancient men dwelt in the prehistoric age
Safety :
Extensive and pain staking preparation has gone into the planning of the Trek route. Our
experienced field staff and camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all the details. While every care has been taken to ensure your safety & health, the YHAI, Andhra Pradesh State Branch can not be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
Your Attention :
Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Don’t litter any Plastic material, wrappers and spoil the trail in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or any
thing left by Trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you for deposit at the camp.
Fee :
Rs. 1500/- only. The fee includes simple vegetarian food, expert guidance, equipment and
supervision.
Discount : Group of 10 persons are entitled to bring one Teacher Escort accompanying the group
is FREE in terms of participation fee. Student community are entitled to a discount of 15% in the fee.
Cancellation:
In case you are unable to join the
Trek after paying the participation fee, you will get Rs.500/- as refund of participation fee, provided your request is received directly by the YHAI State Office, 7 days before the date of reporting.
Certificates:
Participants who successfully complete the Trek and abide by the discipline in the camp will be awarded certificates.

Medical Aid:
Adequate Medical Aid is kept at various camps. However you are advised to bring your personal Medical Kit to meet emergencies. Use of Alcohol / Narcotics of any description an Smoking is strictly prohibited during the camp.
NOTE :
After completion of Trekking Expedition, if, any participant desire to have Darshan of Lord Sri
Venkateswara, they have to make their own arrangements for Darshan and Accommodation as per their convenience
Trek Schedule :
Report at Base Camp at Youth Hostel, Tirupati, Near Radio Station, Police Parade
Grounds, MR Palli, Tirupathi. Railway station to Youth Hostel Building nearly 4
kms as well as from Bus stand.
Day 1 : Reporting at base camp youth hostel Tirupathi
Night Halt at Bandi irusulu. – 6 kms
Day 2 : Participants will be shifted by bus to Kukkala Doddi Village. Trek commence from
Kukkala Doddi to Bandi Irusulu / Chakirevu Bana .
Day 3 : Trek to Thumburu Theertham Valley 8 kms. – Night Halt.
Day 4 : Trek to Ramakrishna Valley – 8 kms. – Night Halt.
Day 5 : Trek to Tirumala Hills – Papa Vinasanam – 6 kms.
The program schedule and routes are subject to change without prior notice.
Reporting Dates : You may choose to report at base camp Tirupati Youth Hostel on 23rd-24th
Jan’2011. If required participation is not received batches will be clubed.
Special Casual Leave
The Trekking Expedition organised by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, (Deptt. of Personnel and Training), Government of India, vide Office Order No. 28016/89-Estt(A), dated 25th October, 1989. Participants can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office upto 30 days in a calender year.
